It is divided into the curriculum contextual strands for Science, namely ‘Living World’, ‘Planet Earth and Beyond’, ‘Physical World’ and ‘Material World’.
Each section introduces and explains a scientific idea, and then gives experiments, diagrams, questions and puzzles that reinforce that idea.
It provides a wide variety of contexts for learning.
Extensive use is made of examples from Aotearoa New Zealand to illustrate concepts.
Experiments and tests are designed so students can do them at home or in school using everyday materials.
Group activities are included – these can be adapted for a student to do alone.
